rpm -i --nodeps --force ./name/of/rpm
Don't use -i when you want to replace a previous version! With -i you'll have both the old *and* the new version installed. -i is only good for installing a previously not existing package. For upgrading *always* use -U ( or -Uvh if you want verbose reporting) as that will first install the new files and then delete the old files.
