Just got my laptop (HP zd7260) and the SuSE install won't resize the XP partition.
How do I do this?
I just resized another NTFS on an HP laptop. I used ntfsresize and fdisk with much trepidation but it went smoothly and worked fine.
Me too, though not *quite* recently.
First I did the windows defrag several times to get everything down to managable, then ntfsresize, noting the beginning and ending of the current partitions, followed by fdisk. Then I installed SuSE9.1 and they both play nicely now. Didn't lose a file and the owner is using it as if it was never touched!
I only ran the defrag once. Of course the 'ntfsresize' and 'fdisk' mentioned are linux tools, so one needs to boot some sort of working linux system. I used Knoppix. In the end I didn't need the data backup, but I strongly suggest having one, before you attempt this.
If you decide to go this route, print out the man page and follow the instructions verrrrrrry carefully.
Indeed. Cheers, /Jon -- Just say "know!"
