my experience with 9.0 and VM 4 is not good. Installation was not difficult, the suse modules were kept, BUT there was zero stability. Don't know if it was the Reiser fs (first time i tried it) or anything else, but the system would need a hard reboot after only a minute or two of running Vmware. I suspect there is a problem running vm4 in suse 9.0 w. the Athlon Kernel. Back down to 8.2 I went, will wait for the dust to clear... d.
I am running Suse 9.0 with vmware 4.05 on an athlon kernel (2.4.21-144.athlon), and it has NEVER crashed. Granted I only got Suse 9.0 about a month ago, but it is rock solid. My guset OS is Windows NT 4.0, and it is running all day because I need it for business apps. I am using bridged networking, and the Windows VM connects to the server adn teh internet no problem. For what it is worth my motherboard is an ECS K7S5a, hardly a high end motherboard. I use the Reiserfs (ext2 for the boot partition). Not sure what the problem is, but Suse 9.0 and vmware 4.05 with an athlon kernel work great for me. Mike -- Michael A.
