Well, the reasons why I've said that US Robotics Courier is the KING of
analogue modems are:
1. Even here, in Romania, I have NO problem with them on dial-up lines, it
worked between 9k and 56k
2. There's no leased line where Courier cannot work
3. It worked on every Linux system I've ever installed
So, if you can afford one, that's THE modem :)

They're designed for maximum performance and reliability in a commercial environment. On a phone line that is less than stellar, a Courier will commonly outperform an ordinary modem.
