Can anyone recommend any Linux (preferably on the Install media on 8.2 Pro) backup soiftware that backs up to DLT?
This isn't exactly a "stellar" reccomendation other than it serves to announce "it works with DLT's": Arkeia. I don't think it is on the CD's, but the download from their site isn't terribly large [a few meg as I recall] The "free[bie]" version is actually the prior version and is licensed in such a way that you can use it with up to two other workstations [linux or windows] over a network. This is actually what I did: I have some video files I've been editing on a windows workstation, and I was able to back them up [some of the files were 2gb or so...] to half a dozen DLT tapes. The current version [5] costs $$$, and presumably it is "much nicer" than the free version. [go figure] It had better be MUCH much nicer, because I found the 4.x version to be a tad on the confusing side [though once I understood how to make it work, it was a breeze...] - -- Yet another Blog: http://osnut.homelinux.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://osnut.homelinux.net/TomEmerson.asc iD8DBQE+qkrpV/YHUqq2SwsRAnMYAJ48HYdfgPEMR4kcWz+gxu6Ap24W5wCgv+wn nNENF+s6/WXuVP/DT+s3qSw= =JO+3 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
