Hi, What FTP server have you installed?. I had the same problem with vsftpd. If this is your case, please comment the line #connect_from_port_20=YES from /etc/vsftpd.conf After doing that, ftp installation succeded. Guillermo. On Wednesday 28 May 2003 12:46, Mark A. Tagliaferro wrote:
HI All,
Two weeks ago there was this thread which ended without a proper answer in my opinion. Installing 8.2 via ftp is giving an error message about not being able to read package data from the installation media. I read the postings on the original thread so I decided to eliminate the firewall.
You might call me crazy but I downloaded the entire 6.4G from an ftp mirror and set it up on my own ftp server. This means that there is no firewall in the way. Ftp access is very fast and is working well. Imagine my surprise (especially after 48 hours of downloading) that the error is still coming up.
This means two things IMHO: 1. The firewall is not an issue 2. There is a problem with the files in the ftp servers/mirrors or with YAST2
Any idea as to how to solve it or what the problem actually is?
