Shouldn't that read "hosts dns" rather than "files dns"? That is about all i can think of that would cause it.. That or you have some sort of firewall running that denies ICMP replies..
If the firewall blocks ICMP requests/replies, it would say nothing (ergo: no replies are coming in). The message is 'Unknown host', meaning it can't find an address with that name. I'm almost 100% sure it has to be 'hosts dns' instead of 'files dns'. What does files mean anyway? (check all files on system?)
