You are a user. Worst case cenario: Bug is closed because they do not think it is a bug. As long as you do not swamp them with non-bugs, I would think it will actually help.
An other explanation could be: fine, you are the messanger, please deliver the message in the correct place. ;-)
The missing SSL support is borderline between "bug" and "feature". Rule of Thumb: If in doubt, always open a bugreport. Ciao, Marcus
