a few hints ??.
Hi :)
~ am unsure what you wish to know?
In the meantime I have found out of something. I fetched the definition files, but cannot find them in any directories. The ones I have seems to be too old: eurit:/ # f-prot / Virus scanning report - 22. October 2002 9:42 F-PROT 3.12b SIGN.DEF created 15. October 2002 SIGN2.DEF created 15. October 2002 MACRO.DEF created 14. October 2002 Search: / Action: Report only Files: Attempt to identify files Switches: <none> /usr/share/doc/packages/wxGTK/samples/help/doc/ClassGraph.class Not scanned (corrupted/invalid file) /usr/share/doc/packages/wxGTK/samples/help/doc/ClassLayout.class Not scanned (corrupted/invalid file) /usr/share/doc/packages/wxGTK/samples/help/doc/ClassGraphPanel.class Not scanned (corrupted/invalid file) /usr/share/doc/packages/wxGTK/samples/help/doc/NavigatorButton.class Not scanned (corrupted/invalid file) Results of virus scanning: Files: 150611 MBRs: 0 Boot sectors: 0 Objects scanned: 137696 Time: 17:36 No viruses or suspicious files/boot sectors were found. eurit:/ #
1) f-prot is cost-free for home use, non-professional use
Yes I know, and its already been installed.
2) you run it as root
Yes.
3) the console root command is :
f-prot /home/user { if you just wish to scan your home directory
4) it takes about 8 seconds for f-prot to scan 180 mb of my home directory
5) it probably takes 4 minutes to scan whole system of 3,2 gig
6) there are frequent update of Virus definition files { abt weekly } .....................
Thanks for your kind reply.
best wishes
