Thanks to all those who gave help. Indeed I found the solution on the Mozilla Home v0.9.6 Release Notes. The solution is to create the following sym link: ln -s /usr/java/jdk1.3.1/jre/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so /opt/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so With this (and enabling Java of course!) everything now works fine. I think I read in a README in Mozilla distribution that symlinks should be in /xxx/xxx/mozilla/plugins.
