Don't worry about it. (I know I did, at first ;) ) Unless you intend to make an internal webserver or something accessable to the outside, you don't need any port forwarding.
I am also somewhat confused about setting up the dhcp server and client , isp address - Its server assinged so why is it asking for it in the config set up ? and port fowarding/masqerading , I set it up I think when I put in the range 10.20.30.0 10.20.30.10 , card is set up to 10.20.30.9 w 255.0.0.0
Ok, I'm thinking one (or both, entirely possible) of us is confused here. There is a point where freesco asks you if you want to use dhcp to set up the first interface, i.e. eth0. I think this mainly pertains to people w/ cablemodems, dsl, etc. In these cases I think they get their ip address and other network information via dhcp from their isp. I doubt your isp does this if you have a dialup link, but I could be wrong here (not the first time). The DHCP range applies to what range you want your client machines to receive addresses from, not to your freesco box. FWIW, make sure your 'range' excludes the ip of your internal interface i.e. eth0 on your lan. Otherwise, since dhcp didn't assign it to that interface itself, it is 'free' to assign it to the next machine that asks for it, and then you have more than one machine that thinks it is at that ip address. Not good. To be blunt, forget about masqerading. It is already done for you at this point. Don't worry about it. Monte
thanks

Hi evey one , downloaded freesco and cant seem to get it working. I want to use it with the following
ethernet card access the internal network and modem it access the external network/ISP/internet.
So how do you set up masqerading ? and how do you set up ppp and how does it handle the ever changing ISP assined ip address an each redial ? then how do you test that its working ?
hardware P100 w two 1/2 gig drives , freesco on bootable floppy (once it works Ill think about moving it to the hd. nevell ne1000/2000 compatable card using io=0x300 and irq 11 external modem on com port one.
freesco see them both.
