What's the easiest way forward? They are ordinary people upgrading from XP. Usually single users too.
openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.3 Live CD

1. Boot from CD 2. Install openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.3 from the KDE desktop 3. ??? 4. Profit
OMG What a superb idea. You are wonderful.
Kiss and cool beer L x
Thanks, *glug, glug, glug* ;) but the credit goes to Stephan Binner for taking time to create Live CD's with the latest KDE!
oops.
I'm taking it from here. http://software.opensuse.org/developer
But maybe that's still Binner perhaps.
Anyway, glad you liked the beer. Marketing is everything.

Lynn, I don't think *that* version is very suitable for XP converts. It is a DEVELOPMENT version with all the bugs still attached. The URL given earlier is MUCH better because it installs a current release (11.1) of SuSE upgraded with KDE4.3 and will be much easier and safer to install than an 'alpha/beta' version. Milestone 6, which is what you will get from the /developer site *might* work on many machines but it *won't* work without significant bugs on *any* machine that I know of. Knowledgable people used to "tinkering" with their systems in more than a few cases, have gotten the 'M' series of releases for 11.2 to work relatively reliably, but there are a lot of things not yet set up for general use for the average user....much less a 'newbie'. Just my $.02 worth... Cheers, and good luck.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
