I totally f&^%$ up my system!
What you describe is far less bad than some of the stuff I've done :-O
If I try to quit the crushftp program, the screen stays blank, and crushftp starts up again by itself!
When I get to the prompt, I try to use vi or mc to edit the .bashrc file, but I get an error that the file is read-only and doesn't let me change it!
Any ideas how I can modify this .bashrc file? I need to delete that last line I added to it!
Sounds like you need to "su root", then use vi to edit it. As an example, from my RedHat machine at work: -rw-r--r-- 1 gordonp gordonp 124 Nov 26 15:38 .bashrc Root should have "write" rights, as above. "chmod u+w .bashrc" to get it (as root) if need be.
