Can I do a clean install of SuSE 6.4 with all updates from ftp.suse.com or a mirror similar to how RedHat does it?
I figure this is an easier way to get the newest fixes and a clean install (machine currently has no OS at all).
I was unable to find any info on this in the SuSE manual or FAQ.
Well, yes and no. Of course you can install SuSE Linux via ftp. However, we do not integrate updates into the ftp version - you have to install them manually afterwards or you have to create a local copy of the ftp installation tree and replace the packages before starting the installation. The YaST people are working on an automated upgrade module, but it is not ready yet.
