Maybe kpackage, then, or a gnome equivilent. Install it with yast. :)
BTW, to find the package associated with a file: rpm -qf /path/to/file or if the file is in your $PATH rpm -qf `which file`
This is for installed files and yes works fine but I am looking for something that will tell me an application is in an rpm which I do NOT have installed so I know what rpm to install to get the app running.
The YaST Install and Remove module's search function can perform this task if you select the "Provides" check-box in the Search pane. You also get a variety of searching including full regular expressions.
Thanks for your comment john
