Last week I performed the update 8.0 -> 8.1 (official SuSE cd´s) All went well. Only had to download NVIDIA drivers for 8.1 The after some days I started Yast to look at the bootloader configuration. I had noticed that it said "append hdc=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi" and i thought one time hdc is enough and changed it accordingly. Upon restart I got the message: VFS: mounted root (ext2 filesystem) KERNEL PANIC: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 03:43 I can startup with the suse cd1 -> installation -> Choose language -> boot existing system. Then all starts normally. My root filesystem is reiserfs my fstab: /dev/hdb3 / reiserfs defaults 1 2 /dev/hdb1 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2 /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0 /dev/hda1 /windows/C vfat defaults,umask=0 0 0 /dev/hdb5 /windows/D vfat defaults,umask=0 0 0 /dev/hdb2 swap swap pri=42 0 0 /dev/sr0 /cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/sr1 /cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 Can anyone help me?
