There are two known regressions. ALT+F1 as global shortcut does not work for everybody and the menu does not steal focus, i.e. you cannot start typing right away after the menu (kickoff) popped-up, but have to click into the search field first.
Found more... if the Kickoff menu is open, it does not close after launching an app.
Works here. kickoff opened with click.
If the New Device applet is open, you cannot start Kicker until you explicitly close the New Device manager applet.
That's true. And even more, if you open the device notifier, then click on the kickoff icon it does not open. Now you click on the notifier icon to close it and after that on the kickoff icon, which does not react until you click a second time. Maybe it thinks it's already open.
