Does anyone have any ideas on getting the Epson 4870 to work with SuSE 9.0?
Dave,
I would recommend you have a look at the EPSON KOWA website at http://www.epkowa.co.jp/english/linux_e/dl_scan.html
You can download the Image Scan for Linux frontend which supports the Perfection 4870 PHOTO scanner. They distribute a rpm which should work under SuSE.
tnx, dave
Thanks Andreas - Did just that along with the latest release of xsane and it's development libraries and installed all the programs. What "seems" to have made the difference (the only things I actually did differently today from Friday) was a combo of modifying epson.conf and installing the KOWA 4870 front end. In any event, my response is WOW! The 4870 under xsane is a VERY nice combo. And thanks to everyone elso who took time to provide suggestions; all the help is greatly appreciated! dave -- David C.
