A little later in the thread there's a specific compile error. Turns out, 4front are populated by people who don't know anything about compiling kernels. And they ship kernel level drivers. Good one, but the laugh's on them
Once alsa had been part of the 2.6 kernel, I stopped using OSS. They've been shipping OSS for many years, you'd think they would know all there is to know. Looks like Andrew Morton was the only cool head around, he first suggested it could be a kernel bug. I think the guy flipped after 7 years of having to mod the driver only for SuSE kernels.
