I'm still having problems with XFree86 on my newly installed SuSE 8.1 system.
1) The more annoying problem is that, sometimes (about 1 in 3 or 4 logins), the mouse pointer goes haywire. Instead of of nicely following the mouse, the pointer jumps around, randomly emulating mouse clicks. The problem can be cured by restarting the X server with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. The mouse has been working properly on the login screen. The mouse itself works fine under Win98 on the same PC, and two different mice (one cordless and one not) give the same effects. When the mouse works, it works perfectly (wheel and all); it's just that it's inconsistent.

John, Don't know if this will have anything to do with your problem, but I notice you have Emulate3Buttons set to "on" and I don't think you need or want that with your mouse. The Emulate3Button option, I believe, is for the mice with only 2 buttons. If yours has the scroll wheel, then it also has a third button, so there is no need to emulate. Whether that fixes the problem or not, my guess would that that it should be removed anyway. //Patrick-- --- KMail v1.4.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206
