I am still trying to understand how to get multifunction color laser printer and scanner connected to my opensuse 14.3 installation. I have searched all of the names for printers and scanners that appear under YAST, compared them to devices offered on Amazon, and cannot make a closure. Finally I discovered the HP Developers site: https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/supported_devices/in... and found a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP m477 Fnw listed that according to this list has full support, Print capability, Scan capability and Fax capability (though it just says "Send" for FAX). It requires version 3.15.11 of HPLIP. It also requires a proprietary HPLIP Binary Plug-In it says for scanning capability. I currently have three HPLIP packages, all version 3.16.11-1.3, one for printer, another for scanner and another for fax. Does this mean that, given I download the required Binary Plug-In, that this 'all in one' should work? I have gone through many pages without any resolution comparable to what I feel is presented here.
