HI!!!!! IŽm not a guru in networking under Linux but I made a home network like yours 1 week ago. So to start, first you must install Samba on the linux machine (this is an SMB server, a layer of the TCP/IP protocol, which enables you to comunicate with the win98, 95 or NT). Second you could start reading the help of the Samba Server. Third you should try to configure it through Swat( a graphical setup utility for Samba) you can start it from your web brouser like this: in the direction bar write http://nameofthemachine:901/ Nameofthemachine you should replace it with the name of the machine where Samba is resident, 901 is the port where generally it is listening!!!! Any question donŽt hesitate in asking me. Bye!!!! \\\ | /// \\ ~ ~ // ( @ @ ) -------------oOOo-(_)-oOOo--------------------- Seeya, in the mix Marcelo e-mail: mbuil@infovia.com.ar ICQ # : 13497166 ----------------------Oooo.-------------------------- oooO ( ) ( ) ) / \ ( (_/ \_) =============================== ° In Defenze Of the Danze Muzik ° =============================== -----Mensaje original----- De: Janet Mackley [mailto:jmackley@capri.net.au] Enviado el: Miércoles, 19 de Abril de 2000 09:52 p.m. Para: suse-linux-e@suse.com Asunto: [SLE] Network configuration help please :>) Hi Everyone, I'm very much a novice with SuSE so I'd appreciate some help. I've installed the new 6.4 version but am having trouble setting up my network. I have the Linux machine on the same network as two Windows 98 machines and I can't seem to get them connnected. I also can't access the printer which is connected to one of the windows' machines. Any help would be appreciated and would you please keep it as simple as possible. Thanks :>) Ozgeek <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD W3 HTML//EN"> <HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content='"MSHTML 4.72.3612.1706"' name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><SPAN class=980321301-20042000><FONT color=#0000ff face=Arial size=2>HI!!!!!
