Hi I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is possible to set up an cron job to have linux to reboot the macine like once an day also if it would run the cron job even if the machine was locked up like not allow connects in or out and not being able to use the keyboard would the crom job still be ran and would it shut down and reboot any info and ideas would be good thanks in advance Bob
It should be possible: look at man cron. The reboot command is /usr/bin/reboot. The question is, why do you want to reboot once a day? Linux is not like some obsolescent PC operating systems. You should only need to reboot if you want to replace the kernel. It is usually easier to find a solution to the problem that you're really having: keyboard lockups? -- JDL Non enim propter gloriam, diuicias aut honores pugnamus set propter libertatem solummodo quam Nemo bonus nisi simul cum vita amittit.
