It should be possible: look at man cron. The reboot command is /usr/bin/reboot. The question is, why do you want to reboot once a day? Linux is not like some obsolescent PC operating systems. You should only need to reboot if you want to replace the kernel. It is usually easier to find a solution to the problem that you're really having: keyboard lockups? -- JDL Non enim propter gloriam, diuicias aut honores pugnamus set propter libertatem solummodo quam Nemo bonus nisi simul cum vita amittit.

It sounds like you have a problem that needs fixing.... and you're taking the usual Redmond solution for fixing it.....

Cron can indeed be setup to restart the machine at whatever interval you desire. Do a man crontab and man cron to learn how to do this. it is actually quite simple once you learn how. And NO if the machine is locked up NOTHING will reboot it other than the power switch. Ken
It depends on how it's locked up - I've had machines lock so that I could not input to them from the attached kybrd, but when I telnet'd/ssh'd into the system I was able to do a shutdown -h now. So it just depends on 'how' it locked. -----Original Message----- From: Ken Schneider [mailto:kschneider@rtsx.com] Sent: Monday, May 19, 2003 6:31 AM To: SuSE Users List Subject: Re: [SLE] reboot On Mon, 2003-05-19 at 07:13, Bruce Marshall wrote:

Are there any dependencies of Email Server 3 going through a 7.0 Professional Firewall setup. I am having problems getting the mail to relay through...some people here think since the kernel versions are different, that this could be an issue... But I am under the impression that I might need a new firewall software. One of the problems that are common to nearly all operating systems, including Linux and commercial Unix, is when the GUI grabs the keyboard and mouse preventing all access from the keyboard.
