When I started to have problems burning using K3B or Xcdroast I worked around the problem by creating an icon on my desktop for the app, went into properties-->application--> Advanced Options--> Run as Different User and selected root. Now when I run K3B a window pops up and asks for roots password, which I supply, and then runs the program as though root started it. NO more problems burning CD's or DVD's. This may not be the best way but it works flawless for me.

Ken, this defeats the security practices at all. The next step will be - why I need to use another user with restricted rights, log in as root and do whatever you need. As far as there is a way to make the program run as intended, leave root rights for only administrative purposes. 2c Sunny -- Get Firefox http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=affiliates&id=10745&t=85
