Hello! Can SuSE 8.2 run on P-I with 32M of RAM?
Probably. But I think it might not install, Yast needs more.
A rather unconventional way around this is to install on a similar-hardware machine that does have enough memory, then either move the disk to the target machine or use something like Drive Image and a network boot floppy / bootable CD to get an image of the installed disk onto the target machine. The Drive Image method worked on an old toshiba laptop (32MB RAM).

Yeah, I think that is bad from Suse to delete the yast1. If you need a small computer for certains applications: Router, Dns, etc, you can't do it.
We just loaded SuSE 8.2 on a 266mHz Compact Pressario with 48mb of RAM. YAST2 stops due to insufficient memory, but the old YAST-1 is still right there inside, just an option you must request from the menue. It is all text, TAB key and RET, but we could pick-and-choose software. Stay off KDE and OpenOffice. Use fvwm2 (or others). Use Abiword. BTW, my 14-year old says "fvwm2 is the first desktop advancement since W95" :-) He started on an Amiga, uses W-boxen because of the games, but isn't locked into their desktop world.
