Configuring VMware requires that the kernel sources be installed also.
After installing the kernel sources cd /usr/src/linux and make cloneconfig then re-run vmware-config.pl. It should now work. I just went through the same thing.
Thanks. I did the 'make cloneconfig' and re-ran vmware-config.pl. I get the following error:
linux:/home/trey # vmware-config.pl Making sure VMware Workstation's services are stopped.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]
There's the problem. You're changing the directory that *should* be coming up by default. This is the directory of the *"running"* kernel, not the sources, and it's /lib/modules/2.6.4-54.5-smp/build/include on my machine (SuSE 9.1 with the latest YOU kernel). Whatever you've done in the interim may change that. Look for what it should be exactly, but it will be whatever is in /lib/modules/<version>/build/include. Regards, dk
