Nvidia's MX are usually thier 'second best' sets. And often have less memory. It's not that they aren't good vid cards, it's just that they over charge a little more than on the higer end b/c it's still 'Nvidia', but it's not nearly the 'good' stuff. I have a GF3-ti200. But with the GF-FX series out now the price of either a GF3 or 4 should drop considerably. If you go for a GF3 get the ti500, faster chipset/ramdac, etc.... or GF4 anything but MX. Actually I believe the GF4 has better overlay abilities.
Thanks. I gave a phone call to my usual computer shop, the prices have indeed dropped with the arrival of the new FX. He could sell me a Ge4 Ti4200 for 140€ (128 Mo). According to him the TV-out is only average quality, but I know he's a very demanding person, so let's say it is OK. ;-) Like you, he doesn't like the MX, but he didn't tell me why. Why don't you recommend it? Regards,
