I just installed it for the first time last night -- does look pretty usefull. (search through the last day's worth of posts, there's one with a subject of "openoffice problem with kde3.3" that tells about a nice set of channels you can add that includes all the major SuSE repositories (official SuSE, Packman, ULB, etc).
Yep........I set it up as root, then go to users and setup as a user with full rights. Logoff as root, then back to user and it's works perfectly! NO grief, and accurate updates. SUSE will REALLY MISS THE BOAT if they don't standardize on Red-Carpet for updates, IMHO!!
I'm sure that is what Novell has in mind for it's higher end software like SLES. Red Carpet, from what I've read, is why Novell acquired Ximian. It wanted Linux software on a level with it's Windows software, to give admins the ability to update systems across the network easily. Mike
