I don't think you need Dolphin.
If you select the trashbin then beside the icon/applet there will appear FOUR control icons: a square, a circle with an arrow, a spanner and a cross.
This only works if the user has placed a Trash widget on the desktop.... it's not there by default.
dialogue box titled "Trashcan Settings". (Yes "Can" not "bin")
American English vs British English.... Trashcan is correct by "international English" documentation standards or norms.
Don't waste time flutzing with Dolphin.
Dolphin is in every default install of KDE4.4.4 with openSUSE 11.3... a Desktop widget as you described is not. If you simply open Dolphin and click Settings > Configure Dolphin (or the equivalent if Andre is using the Dutch localization of KDE4) it's pretty simple/easy to select Trash and adjust the size. That's not futzing... that's the best way to describe how to adjust it assuming a default desktop... you cannot assume that the user has added a desktop widget for the Trashcan/bin (although, if they have your steps certainly do work).
