Thanks Richard, I have tried to install Gnome 2 in 2 different ways. Below I have listed the fruits of both attempts and a list of the packages that I am working with.Could someone please tell me the best way to accomplish this task or what I am doing wrong? Suggested by James Ogley I got all the packages from ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME2/update_for_8.0 and copied all the packages from the applications and the base directories into a single directory. Suggested by Richard Bos I went to: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=35354 and under section "0.01 SuSE-7.3 Bin Pkgs" I found the required rpms for APT. I then went to the same directory that I downloaded the Gnome packages.
