I am getting a log of error messages when I browse the 'Net, about pages that require Shockwave Flash. They do not tell me anyting about what kind of file feels unrequited (or about why web designers feel an urge to use this crap).
About:Plugins says the following:
***** File name: npwrapper.libflashplayer.so Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115
MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes *****
So Flash is present. What is it that is missing?
Stan - you will get it all worked out!! :)
Here's what I have
Shockwave Flash
File name: libflashplayer.so Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115
MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes
What version of firefox/mozilla/opera/internet explorer/safari are you running?
A bit of poking about in FF Preferences shows me that, in the browser's list of defaults for filetypes, SWF appears, but not SPL, although the plugin claims to be able to run both. I don't see a way to add a filetype to this list. I have a similar problem with MPlayer, by the way, which is capable of running some WMP film clips from websites, but not all. A local newspaper site, for example links to such clips on external sites (which MPlayer handles beautifully), and also some of its own clips, which display only in what might be called a one-buttocked fashion. I wrote to the newspaper's webmaster asking to know what is the filetype of the latter, but have not been honored with a reply. I have WINE on my system, but I hesitate to try loading WMP into it, just as I don't invite other viruses in. But, for all I know, this too is only a matter of adding a filetype to the list of defaults. -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
