For universities, this is a totally disqualifying problem: the experience of a lot of people is that the upgrade feature hardly works.... clean install is what works ... that is a major problem Phil Every user has customized her or his installation. Lots of rpm's for specialized applications install to /usr and not /usr/local. There is simply no way efficiently in such an environment to wipe clean everyone's installation, install 8.0, then reconfigure things so they worked as before. A viable update option is essential.
