Well, personally I preffer much more Gnome to KDE for
a few reasons:
- I make daily use of Mozilla, Gaim, GnomeMeeting and
Dia that basically are Gtk apps and so run better with
Gnome than KDE. I also spend many hours in front of
the command line and I think the gnome terminal is
much more polished than the KDE terminal and I work
faster with it.
- I hate the Qt libraries and its license that, from
my point of view is too much radical and could create
long term problems since it does N_O_T allow for LGPL
(Lesser General Public Licence). Since KDE is build
with Qt I think it's a big problem.
- I don't like Konqueron since it doesn't run many
JavaScript enabled pages, and so I can't use, for
example, Yahoo mail popups menus. But Konqueron is
everywhere within KDE and I can't disable it.
Anyway if you decide to use GNOME go to RedHat or
Debian. They have a much more "correct" GNOME than the
default included with SuSE (I don't know if the Ximian
version of Gnome correct the mistakes). I hope this
will change soon with Novell adquiring Ximian and
SuSE.

I'm currently using KDE but need to change. I don't know whether its just boredom of using the same environment, or whether its due to it not providing what I want. I have been using it for about 6 months, but I just can't seem to put my finger on why I'm not happy with it.
I'm looking for advice on alternatives people use. I have installed Gnome and find it to be aesthetically pleasing, but can't make judgement at present as I only looked at if for 20 mins.
One of my main gripes is Kmail. I have become use to it and need an alternative that will be as feature packed at that was.
Any suggestions are appricieted, bearing in mind I have only converted to Linux in the past 6 months.
Thanks,
