Hi-- Running 9.1. I have a UPS, but it's only good for a few minutes. If I'm not near the machine, it will time out under power failure. It is very possible that I will not be here to shut down by hand. The UPS does not have a digital output. What will happen to the files, under Reiser fs, when the power goes out, and when it comes back? Should I shut off the machine when not in use, due to thunderstorms and possible power outages? It's not a server, and there's really no reason to keep it running. I just thought I'd see how it works this way. (Very well!)
I've been using Reiserfs for over a year. The machine(s) have experienced their share of power outages, and I can tell you that I have never had to do anything other than boot the system(s). ext2 on the other hand was a nightmare when the power went out, and even the tools did not clear all of the file system problems that power outages caused. Reiser does come with it's own tools, but I've never had to use them. Mike
