Hello World!
I just got my mplayer up and running on my Suse 7.2. I can play a lot of my mpg's, avi's and stuff, but I can't play any of my dvd's. I installed css, and I'm sure it's not the problem. It seems that no matter what I do, I can't get it to read from the dvd-drive.
Here's what I did:
mbs03@paladin:~ > mplayer -vo x11 -vm -dvd /dev/dvd /dvd/video_ts/vts_01_1.vob MPlayer 0.17a-IdegCounter (C) 2000-2001 Arpad Gereoffy
Reading config file: /etc/mplayer.conf: No such file or directory Reading config file: /home/mbs03/.mplayer/config Reading /home/mbs03/.mplayer/codecs.conf: 15 audio & 26 video codecs Font /home/mbs03/.mplayer/font/font.desc loaded successfully! (140 chars) DVD: cannot open DVD device "/dev/dvd".
Check the permissions on the /dev/sr1 device to make sure that you have permission - you might need to add your user to the relevant group. Check that the link is correct by inserting a CDROM into the DVD drive and as root: mount -tiso9660 /dev/dvd /mnt If you can do the mount OK, then the link is correct. Don't forget to unmount afterwards. umount /mnt -- David Smith Tel: +44 (0)1454 462380 (direct) STMicroelectronics Fax: +44 (0)1454 617910 1000 Aztec West TINA (ST only): (065) 2380 Almondsbury Home: 01454 616963 BRISTOL Mobile: 07932 642724 BS32 4SQ Work Email: Dave.Smith@st.com Home Email: David.Smith@ds-electronics.co.uk
