Hi, I just did a fresh SuSE 9.0 install on my new P4 hyper threading. Yast automatically installed the kernel k_smp, but with this kernel, usb and sound did not work at all. So I decided to install the k_deflt, and with this kernel, everything work like a charm.
So, is k_smp needed to use hyper threading ?
thanks.
Even new mantel's kernel did not solve usb and sound problem I had when using smp kernel. This is very strange, because all drivers where correctly loaded (usb and sound). Maybe a Bios bug. So, I just recompiled kernel 2.4.23-rc1 with smp support, and now usb works well. I still need to install alsa driver.
