Stupid question time, have you run /usr/bin/X11/fetchmsttfonts? If you do that you'll run true-type fonts straight from Microsoft; their sole contribution, albeit unintentional, to Linux. ;-) Also, this is just my opinion, turn antialiasing off. One should note that 7.3 out of the box has b0rken antialias support due to an Apple patent; that can be fixed though; but since I'm running 7.2 I don't remember how offhand.
When you say, turn off antialiasing, what do you mean? I don't run KDE, I run Gnome. My understanding was that you must install gdkxft and then select the gdkxft theme to run Gnome apps anti aliased. I'm not doing this (but have gdkxft installed). I have used fetchmsttfonts to install the MS fonts. ??? Jamie -- Jamie O'Shaughnessy jamie.oshaughnessy@ntlworld.com
