I'm not sure which one, but a recent update seems to have killed Admin mode in KDE on 10.3. Clicking the Admin Mode button in any control center window shows the red ring, but the thing hangs forever. Not sure exactly when or why, but I noticed this after todays updates, on 3 different 10.3 installs. Any clues?
Yep......does the same thing on my 64-bit laptop...don't know about any others yet. I checked this on the font installer.
I'm also having problem with the font installer just hanging.
That has been happening for a while. There is a bug in the "administrator mode" authentication that asks for the root password. You can't "sudo kcmshell fonts" either. The only way I have gotten around this is to actually start a kde session as root and then do the font install.
I hope somebody is working this issue.....
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=355374 is considered fixed. Check the KDE 3 version that you use.
