Ok.. Now when I Run Control Center. It shows the proper info.. It also says 3D is enabled.. My GL Screen savers are working somewhat ok.. in the instructions it says to test GL run "fglrxinfo" ATI Says.. ###################### Typical output information (3D acceleration is working properly) may read like this: OpenGL vendor string: ATI OpenGL renderer string: FireGL 8700/8800 OpenGL version string: 1.2.1234 (1.2.3) ###################### but mine says.. ###################### Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". display: :0.0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 4.0.4 ###################### is this possible not a good test under SuSE? Is there something else I should Run to see if GL is up? Thanks for your help! :) --Charles On Sun, 2003-12-21 at 19:26, Curtis Rey wrote:

When I look in my SuSEPlugger App it says my video card is an "Unknown Device" Named ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 M9. I went to ATI's Site and downloaded "fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-3.2.8.i586.rpm" ITs the Linux Driver for XFree86 4.3.0 Version.
I install the RPM Via Yast, then when I see its done I run the "fglrxconfig" program and answer all the questions. The install notes say it will create a "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4" file, which it does.
If I reboot theres no change. Should I Rename XF86Config-4 to XF86Config?
IM running SuSE 9.0 on a Dell Instiron 8200
Im mainly looking to get my graffix up to snuff. (I test to see if its ok by running a GL Screen saver)make modules_install
Thanks for you help & Advise --Charles :)
cd /etc/X11 cp XF86Config XF86Config-orig (or tagged with whatever, bkup, old, etc) cp XF86Conifig-4 XF86Config
Or, you could compare the two and just change whats in the module section for
Load "glx" Load "dri" (I believe the ati cards need dri)
And the "Device" section to make sure the driver and other options are written correctly.
Eitherway, before overwriting the original XF86Config... Back it up. That way you'll have a function x config file so you cp the "orig" file over the default and get it back up and running.
If you have problems again repost with your XF86Config file, and perhaps anything else in the ".X.err" and ".xsession-errors" files in the home dir as well.
