Here i have a question: How to make yast2-packager/packagemanagercompletely works with rpm-4.0.4??Now it's ok to install rpm from yast2, butnot possible to show which rpm installed:((
Simple answer: Don't do that.
After 3 days's hard work, i successfully build rpm-4.0.4 under suse linuxenterprise 8.0 and install it, to replace rpm-3.0.6(i'm puzzle why susestill use such old rpm tools??),and successfully convert the old rpmdatabase(db1 format) to newer(db3 format).
Why would you want to do this? RPM 3.0.6 is forwards-compatible with RPM 4.x. I'd recommend rebuilding any src.rpms you have anyway. - From what I remember, RPM 4.x has some serious issues on some architectures that SuSE supports, so they went the stability route. I admin SuSE and Red Hat boxes and I haven't found RPM 4.x to be superior in any way. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+QSr/+FOexA3koIgRApqcAJ4o2W9tumaavgMsunmA/PJD/9SgpwCdGhl2 3P3Z6zD04B+KDdsJbkTWvV8= =s1eU -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
