[opensuse] What is your favorite Dropbox replacement?

Hi all, Probably many of you got a warning from Dropbox that from this November it will only support ext4 filesystems (from the linux world). Unfortunately my two most used computers have XFS filesystem, so I am in a bit trouble. Before moving - to my regret - to something other cloud storage, I would like to ask your opininon: how do you manage this question. Google drive would be an obvious choice, but I still do not know of a decent linux client. Albert

[opensuse] problem with network startup and netcosole

I am running opensuse 42.3 with a 4.18.7 kernel. I have worked on this netconsole problem for almost two months. I realize it is not part of the standard distribution, but I feel it should work to allow one to record crash dumps. I am currently looking for: 1. a person with expertise in network startup and netconsole; 2. a person that will build a system with netconsole to verify my problem. Below is my setup, first the kernel command line: linux netconsole=64001@192.168.7.60/eth0,64001@192.168.7.55/34:e6:d7:01:2a:dd loglevel=8 and then my receiving script: sudo nc -v -u -l 64001 | tee netconsole.log In summary, netconsole works fine, up to the point it hangs at around 12us after boot. Before the hang the destination output matches that presented by dmesg. I looked in /var/log/messages for an entry corresponding to the time netconsole halts and I find: systemd[1]: Started wicked AutoIPv4 supplicant service. And I do not believe the destination is hanging, because if I reboot the source, the output log on the destination continues. Messages such as those generated by ("modprobe floppy" = no such device) also do not appear on the destination, but do appear in dmesg. The output also continues on the destination if I issue a command to generate a panic, "echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger". So something in the panic must be fixing netconsole. If I run the module version, it behaves as expected printing the "no such device" messages from "modprobe floppy", and others that I found suggested on the net. I have read the Linux Device Drivers book, and asked the question on opensuse_kernel, kernelnewbies and this list. From what I can discover, netconsole is a driver stacked on printk, so anything printk issues should go to netconsole. Most respondents to my queries tell me that the log level is incorrect, but I feel if the messages are appearing in the dmesg dump the log level must be correct. The "Started wicked AutoIPv4 supplicant service" message coincident with the freeze makes me believe that the opensuse system startup is corrupting the linkage netconsole has established. [opensuse] ntfs or ntfs-3g?

I have 2 W10 partitions using ntfs. When I set the first one up for mount in fstab, I manually edited the file to use the ntfs-3g driver because the openSUSE documentation recommends using that FUSE driver. Later, for the second partition I used YaST Partitioner to set the mount point in fstab; in that case YaST wrote ntfs to fstab rather than ntfs-3g. Both appear to work. Which is correct? [opensuse] How to disable synaptiks/touchpad in KDE4?

Hello: This occurs in openSUSE 13.1 with its default KDE4 (4.11.5). Whenever I login to KDE session a message window pops up. Originally I did not have this message after login, it started only some time ago. The title of the window is: "Error - synaptiks" The message in the window is: "No touchpad found No Touchpad found in this system. If the system has a touchpad, please make sure that the synaptiks drive is properly installed and configured. If your touchpad is not found, though the driver is installed and configured correctly, please compile detailed information about your touchpad hardware and report this issue to the issue tracker." I don't have touchpad attached to the computer. Why does KDE try to start it? I searched for touchpad in KDE4 settings (systemsettings) and found only one instance of touchpad called "touchpad configuration" under Hardware/Input devices/Touchpad. But that shows the very same message as the above, and there is no any option to disable touchdpad. I found that in system tray I have a synaptiks icon (little triangle) but its menu's "Touchpad on" line is not checked and the "Configure synaptiks" line is grayed out. I checked yast too but couldn't find synaptiks or touchap setting there. How can I disabel it and get rid of this annoying popup message? Is anyone using a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps) PCI card with openSUSE? If so, which cards? If so, which versions of openSUSE? [opensuse] SOT Internet issues

Something strange is going on. I'm on Spectrum cable. The advertised bandwidth is 200Mbps. Since most of may LAN is 100Mbps Ethernet, I don't see that speed. If I plug my laptop (Gigabit Ethernet) directly into the cable modem I see the adverised bandwidth, but several things fail: fetch from Google Apps e-mail (Ruby script), outgoing mail to same account (Thunderbird), and updating Ruby gems (gem and bundle). All error messages indicate a timeout after a half minute to minute. There may be others but these I know. Web sites work fine. Outgoing e-mail thru noise.org (local Mail Service Provider) works fine. Plug into the WiFi router w/ NAT connected to the cable modem and everything works fine. This is on 42.3. I'm using OpenSuSE's firewall and Portsentry (3rd party). The logs seem to show a possible correlation with the failed services timing and TCP SYN/Normal scan from various ripe.net addresses (Portsentry). Also blocked TCP connections (SuSEfirewall2). Turning off Portsentry does not fix the problem. Stopping the firewall doesn't help either. So possibly this is a server policy to check WHOIS on connections? And with my laptop, the firewall is blocking ripe.net, the usual WHOIS provider? [opensuse] Desktop constantly momentarily pausing (nvidia)

Hello, I recently installed Leap 15.0 on a workstation that has an nvidia graphics card installed (Quadro K2200), and since I've been using it for graphics work I've noticed that it continuously pauses. Even while editing a file or typing this email the entire screen pauses for half a second - every 5 seconds. To say this is irritating would be an understatement. I've tested both the main Leap 15.0 nvidia repository and the CUDA repository for SLES, and the behavior is the same. I'm currently running the following packages from the nvidia repository: nvidia-computeG04 390.87-lp150.10.1 nvidia-gfxG04-kmp-default 390.87_k4.12.14_lp150.11-lp150.10.1 nvidia-glG04 390.87-lp150.10.1 x11-video-nvidiaG04 390.87-lp150.10.1 Does anyone here have any experience debugging this issue? Also, please let me know If there is a better place to report this.
