[opensuse] Uninstalling kernel and "linux" link

Hi all, In my system I have enabled the multiversion for kernel-desktop so I have just uninstalled kernel 3.1.10-1.13.1 since I have seen it was removed from the Update repo. So I have uninstalled also the corresponding kernel-devel, kernel-desktop-devel and kernel-source. I have noted that in /usr/src the "linux" link still points to the missing linux-3.1.10-1.13 (thus the link is broken) instead of the correct linux-3.1.10-1.9. Is this a wanted behaviour? or is it a bug? Should I report it? [opensuse] Audio recording via S/PDIF input?

This may not be the best place to ask but since I am using SuSE Linux, figured I'd give it a try. Any SuSE users out there with experience recording audio to a PC (running SuSE Linux) from a digital source using the motherboards SPDIF input? My digital source is the Analog to Digital section of an RME ADI-2. My MB is a GIGABYE GA-770TA-UD3. My SuSE is 11.4. I'm trying to use audacity-2.0.0-71.1.i586. It doesn't seem to work. My symptoms are similar to what, I read happens, when the input devices (SPDIF-in) clock isn't properly running in slave mode. IE, the SPDIF-in isn't using the sources (ADI-2) clock for it's clock. I get very-very low levels and when played back doesn't even sound like audio. I am continuously getting "script errors" with thunderbird, and it is becoming quite disruptive to my regular work. It switches focus to a dialog box with the script error while I am in the middle of other things and has the following words: A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Following this is a type of URL or something. This is now happening about every 5 minutes as long as I have thunderbird open. Any ideas on what I should try? Perhaps go back to an earlier version of thunderbird? Hello: I have purchased a new computer with more RAM (8 GB) and newer processor (AMD phenom II x6). So far all my computers used 32 bit linux (opensuse). Windows users say that windows requires 64 bit system to recognize and use memory that is larger than 4 GB (>3.xx). 1. It is necessary to switch 64 bit opensuse to use 8 GB RAM? My 32 bit system sees 8 GB RAM (in kinfocenter); kernel 2.6.31.14-0.8-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-04-16 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux. 2. If not necessary, what are the advantages of 64 bit? 3. What are the caveats? I guess there might be programs that can run on 32 bit system only. Can I run these in a 64 bit OS? Is there some compatibility program? I never installed and used a 64 bit system before. Hello: The subject line says it. In YAST software manager not only the x86_64 but the i586 packages are listed as well. Is this normal? In 32 bit system only i586 packages are shown.
