As you can do some things I think the first thing to look at are the eclipse error logs... in 3.2 they are usually in .eclipse/.metadata of the home directory of the invoking user and <workspace>/.metadata/ as .log I cannot say if this is the case for 3.3 which I understand is a major upgrade from 3.2.... I would suggest you bring this up with the eclipse forums with the relevant logs.... [opensuse] Turning off the hard disk

I would like to use my opensuse 10.2 system on a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum board with a Hitachi SATA 160 GB HDS722516VLSA80 hard disk mostly without the hd running, i.e. I imagine copying the files needed for my daily work at the beginning of a session to a ram disk and then working from there. At the end of such a script the hd will be turned off. But ... I do not know how to accomplish this turning off. So for hints as detailled as possible as to how to turn off the hd in a script I would be very grateful. A. Hi, Does anyone know if there is a solution to opensuse 10.3 on 64bit amd cpu with 64bit firefox and 64bit jre/java jre1.6.0_03. It seems that in the standard opensuse 10.3 64bit install it installs a 64bit version of firefox and java just doesn't seem to work in firefox. I've googled and found many others with similar problems and wondered if there has been a solution to 10.3 yet? Thanks and regards. All that is present is a greyed out kwin and no option and no ability to change it to anything else. There is no way you are in Center. I didn't think Linda K. allowed counter-cultures such as Linux to exist in either Shelby or Panola county. Glad to know I'm not the only one behind the pine curtain fighting the good fight. [opensuse] restoring window decorations after xgl removed

I tried XGL on my opensuse 10.3 system. with an Nvidia card Looked OK, after enabling some plugins and restarting my session, my X session restarted, briefly displayed my desktop, and then went to a blank screen with an X I decided to remove XGL - not a simple thing. I have my system almost back to normal, but I have no windows decorations, I use kde - how do I turn on the standard kde window decorations? Guys, I downloaded the KDE CD for install, and every time I am getting that error. I am installing on Parrallel, so I am not sure if that is why. [opensuse] Initial thoughts on KDE 4 Beta 4 (with RC1 kde4libs)

So, to get the story straight. The newest packages of KDE 4 are actually Beta 4 with the exception of the kde4libs which are tagged as RC(1) I was actually suprised to see how much more polished the Beta 4 version was compared to Beta 3 ( I will continue considering this a Beta product until I see RC quality in its entirety and not just the core libs ). It works fairly well and the few programs i've used seem to be a bit more stable. Kwrite looks good, and kdesu has a save password feature, wonder where it saves it? Damn.. it doesn't work for me. Have to open things in konsole still (yast etc that need root access). Remote KIO slave didn't work for me.. It froze up and I actually had to kill the processes since the "cancel" button wasn't working. The whole UI was frozen. The YaST Control Center icon is still ugly. They need to start paying attention to some detail with iconing (i know i know.. but in my eyes this should be done in Beta 2 / 3 stages to get right piximaps etc. The systray icons were just floating around and i couldn't move them. The location they "docked" at blocked my plasma menu. Getting used to no Desktop folder is going to be hard. Dolphin should be in opensuse 10.3 kde 3.5.8.. Hey.. i have a menu.. I have just installed SuSE 10.3 I have downloaded and trying to install the statistics package R. I am installing from: /usr/local/bin/R-2.6.0 as root. The ./configure has made some progress but now it stops looking for X11 headers (see the following). I cannot find where X11 has its headers (file with extension .h) Please, do you have ny hints ? [opensuse] 10.3 - wireless was fine. No longer can acquire IP - don't know what changed

OpenSUSE 10.3 Dell Inspiron 8500 Dell TrueMobile 1300 wifi card (Broadcom, I think) Using ndiswrapper. Wired = eth0 Wireless = eth1 For about a week the wireless worked A-Ok - both in my home and my office - both using WPA2, both using hidden SSIDs, and both serving IPs via DHCP. Sunday night I was using the laptop to transfer files from my network to a remote device that is unable to go wireless. I'd download a file on the laptop, using the wireless. THEN, in KNetworkManager I'd click on the Wired Network (eth0). This would disconnect the wireless (eth1), and enable the wired. Within YAST, Network Devices, I configured a static IP on the wired NIC. At the time I think I also configured a static IP on the wireless, to see if I could use both NIC (on both networks) simultaneously, so I could more conveniently transfer files between the two networks. (I wasn't really expecting to have the laptop function as a router or bridge - more, I'd manually get files to the laptop from the wireless LAN, and then manually ftp them to the wired device, from the laptop.) Yesterday morning I discovered that my wireless card no longer picks up IP addresses via DHCP. The wired NIC will. Each time I try to connect to a wireless network using KNetworkManager, the connection is established, but the dialogue stalls out at 57%, "IP configuration started." Within YAST, I de-selected the 'enable IPv6' checkbox on the wireless card. I tried configuring the wireless card to be in the 'external zone' for the firewall. If I configure the wireless to use a static IP, and set the default gateway myself, I can connect to the LAN wirelessly. * DNS servers are STILL being set through DHCP. * The logs seem to me to show that the response from the DHCP server is ignored when I try to grab an IP address for the wireless card. Yet everything works properly for the wired card. In fact, when the wireless NIC times out tryign to obtain an IP, the wired automatically just connects and gets an IP perfectly, every time. I'm skeptical this has anything to do with encryption. KNetworkManager shows an unencrypted network (presumably from a neighboring office), and I see the exact same behavior if I try to attach to it. Sorry the included log is so long, but I didn't want to leave out anything useful.
