[SLE] ProFTPd is fast but stops now and then

Hi, When I upload about 100 files using a random FTP client to Linux 2.2.14 (6.4) and ProFTPd (came with 6.4), it's usually fast, but if I transfer those same files to the same directory again, the transfer stops now and then, to be resumed a few seconds later. This is bugging me, because I really cannot have this problem appearing with my clients. I use <Directory /> AllowOverwrite on </Directory> in my /etc/proftpd.conf-file, maybe that has to do with it, but then again it can't, because this hardly is an out-of-the-ordinary setting. Anyone any hints for moi? [SLE] dhcp problem

Greets, having an issue with SuSE 6.3 and setting up on a cable service provided by Adelphia using dhcp. They say they are compatible but of course provide no tech support.. I have a D-Link 530tx+ setup and working on a 3 computer lan with two windows machines nad a 10/100 switch. What I have attempted is taking out the nic on one of the windows machines nad setting it up for dhcp on the linux box.. but yast is having a hard time realizing this card is even there. So .. now I went back into yast and am simply attempting to setupt he D-Link as auto IP dhcp .. do this.. type in dhclient eth0 and I get a bunch of sends on 255.255.255.255 and no DHCPOFFERS accepted.. for some reason I just cant get this setup. any help would be appreciated.. in the dhcp config file (name may be wrong not at that machien right now) I noticed there is a setting for user ID called adelphia to find the user identification ID and they said they verify off a MAC addy on the cable modem itself. Anyone with ideas on what I am missing??? There are two basic ways to do this. Get more public IPs so you can set up a proper subnet in your DMZ. Or redirect ports from your public IP to private addresses on your DMZ. Something like this would work for the first suggestion: eth0 213.212.9.2/24 gw 213.212.9.1 to WAN eth1 213.212.10.1/29 to DMZ webserver 213.212.10.2/29 gw 213.212.10.1 eth2 192.168.1.1/24 to LAN internal machines 192.168.1.2-254/24 gw 192.168.1.1 I could give you ideas for the 2nd suggestion on xBSD but I haven't done it on Linux. Hello, Can somebldy please give me some pointers. I would like to use Apache as a proxy server. I can access the local web pages but it can't browser the web. I get the following error " client denied by server configuration" can any one point me in the right direction. I have just installed Suse 6.4. I am trying to use my Scsi adaptec 1542 where my CD writer is connected. How can install it ? Does I have to recompile ? Is there any information in the FAQ ? [SLE] xmms/mp3 playback too rapid

On my 6.4 system I tried running xmms for the first time. I was unable to get the program running at a normal speed - instead it operates many times quicker than it is supposed to, and sounds all squiggly (hard to be descriptive here, except it sounds like running a 33rpm record at 78rpm). I turned up the sound to hear it, and now I am getting a constant "squiggly" sound out of my soundcard - but only in linux. My soundcard sounds fine when I reboot into windows. Weird, eh? [SLE] SSH for 6.4

Anyone know where to get the SuSE SSH rpm for 6.4. I know they can't ship it with the American SuSE 6.4, and I don't exatly want to use the 6.3 rpm of it. I'm hope'ing its SSH 1.2.3 instead of 1.2.27 whihc was the 6.3 rpm package. I also don't want to compile OpenSSH or OpenSSL since the install isn't very friendly... [SLE] Kernel panic

I'm getting kernel panics occasionally that hang the machine. This is Bad because I'm not physically near the machine to press the button. Is there a way to make the system reboot instead of hang until I can get some time to look into the matter?
