I have just installed Suse 6.4. I am trying to use my Scsi adaptec 1542 where my CD writer is connected. How can install it ? Does I have to recompile ? Is there any information in the FAQ ? Thanks Bye <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content="MSHTML 5.00.2314.1000" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have just installed Suse 6.4.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am trying to use my Scsi adaptec 1542 where my CD writer is connected.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>How can install it ?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Does I have to recompile ?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Is there any information in the FAQ ?</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Thanks</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Bye</FONT></DIV></BODY>

I've got the same card. Run sgcheck. If nothing comes up find the scsiinfo.rpm from the SuSE site and install it. Remember to do "modprobe aha1542" to load the driver. Driver is in /lib/modules/2.2.14/scsi.
