[SLE] how to backup to multiple floppys

Hi Folkss Need to back up some files. Whats the simplest standard way of backing up and compressing files across several floppys ? Tar / gzip ? Man pages show nothing on spaning over several floppys? Hos is this done under linux ? I have a complete dir I want to back up and another dir with two big tar files. [SLE] Any good documentation on login process?

I am interested in exploring the process that takes place when a user logs on. I am interested in the general subject. In other word, what is common between, say, telnet, locoal console, su, and xdmcp logins. I am also interested in the details of the xdmcp/xdm/kdm authentication and initialization processes. I'm looking for something technical, but more general than an API spec. An API spec may actually be of interest as well. What I want to know is what actual process is started, how it is started, who it runs as, what it does, what it calls, and what standards exist regarding this subject. [SLE] Micro Touch

I have touch set up on a new install of 6.4. It works well sometimes. It will work once, and then not again. If I then change seemingly insignificant things in XF86Config it will start working again. When it doesn't work the error is: No answer from port : 0 No answer from port : 0... Not at the specified rate, giving up MicroTouch finger close... Done Is something getting set when it is running that is putting a lock on or changing the "rate" and not allowing a new lock or whatever? It doesn't seem to matter if the X is killed nicely or not, and sometimes it will work without making pseudo changes to XF86Config. Can I tell it anything in the Shutdown scripts for X to reset whatever? Any help appreciated. I have been futzing with it for over a week and cannot see a real pattern here.. The kernel can be upgraded safely to the 6.4 version - they are not version-specific as such. Make sure you also update any supporting packages if needed, like PCMCIA and the ReiserFS tools. Note that OSS (free version from SuSE) for an earlier kernel will not work with 2.2.14. When playing with kernels or multiple distributions on one system I put a seperate directory in /boot for each one. You might consider making /boot/2.2.13 and /boot/2.2.14. Modify lilo.conf to boot from /boot/2.2.13/vmlinuz for your current kernel. When you install the 2.2.14 put it in /boot/2.2.14 and add another section to lilo.conf to boot this kernel, call it say "suse" and rerun lilo to make the new boot loader. [SLE] Clock problem..

No, I dont have a problem setting the clock if you was thinking that. :P My problem is, the clock has become "strange" after i installed SuSE 6.4.. It has become fast.. it goes ahead 2 hrs.. so I have to set the clock every hour, I have tried setting the time zone and local time but it doesnt seem to work.. the battery isnt empty.. anyone have suggestions ?
