IMO, if there is only one person, no team, it is easier to go directly to the SV server - once you know to use it, of course. The strength of Vertaal is coordinating a team automatically, allowing people to also download/upload the files they have assigned. If there is only one person, you don't have to "coordinate" anything with others. Just download the entire tree, translated it all, or part of it, and upload, as often as needed.
