Since _ is alphanumeric :-P and DVI-A is rather uncommon, it would be reasonable to use DVI_A(-1) - given that most of the time the -1 would be skipped anyway. Another alternative would be DVIA(-1). I'd like to use dashes for numbering, that's what all other drivers use, and it also looks most "separatingly".
If people don't like the '_' I'd suggest to use ':' instead. Like: DVI-A:1
For me this groups A:1 together, something we certainly don't want to
indicate. But it's possible.
