Dear all! The organization of openSUSE Conference 2015 (in The Hague Netherlands) is starting up! Therefor it is time to have a kick off meeting in #opensuse-project on freenode. Everybody is invited to join and participate! The meeting will be held on Tuesday 23rd sept 2014 11.00h UTC / 13.00 CEST. Hi all, Thanks to everyone who participated in today's meetings The full logs are available at : http://community.opensuse.org/meetings/opensuse-project/2014/opensuse-proje… Meeting summary --------------- * TAG / Micro Focus Merger * the SUSE executive team want to communicate their commitment to openSUSE * SUSE will not be changing their name as a result of the merger * there are no plans for SUSE to change their focus areas from their current - DataCenter, OpenStack Cloud, and Distributed Storage * Micro Focus was interested in all of the TAG Business Units, but they definitely saw SUSE as a big area of growth * SUSE's hosting of openSUSE's infrastructure will not change * SUSE's HQ will remain in Nuremberg * Michael Millar (VP Global Alliances & Marketing at SUSE) prefers coffee over tea and is persuading his colleagues in SUSE's executive team to run openSUSE 13.1 as their main desktop * openSUSE 13.2's scheduled release date of 4th November 2014 should not change as a result of the Merger * openSUSE 13.2 * We need more community help for the 13.2 release - There is a list of open tasks at https://progress.opensuse.org/projects/opensuse-13-2-release/issues?set_fil… * We need serious help marketing/spreading the word about openSUSE 13.2. [opensuse-project] Statement on the recent Merger announcement

Dear openSUSE Community, As you might be aware, SUSE's parent entity, the Attachmate Group has entered into an agreement to merge with Micro Focus, a UK-based enterprise software company. As the primary sponsor of the openSUSE Project, SUSE's President and General Manager, Nils Brauckmann has contacted the openSUSE Board to share the following key points " * Business as Usual: There are no changes planned for the SUSE business structure and leadership. There is no need for any action by the openSUSE Project as a result of this announcement. * Commitment to Open Source: SUSE remains passionately committed to innovation through Open Source. This has always been the foundation of our business and that will continue as we grow and innovate in new areas. * Commitment to openSUSE: SUSE is also fully committed to being a sponsor and supporter of an open, highly independent and dynamic openSUSE community and project. We are proud of openSUSE and greatly value the collaborative relationship between SUSE and the openSUSE community. Bonjour je me présente Franck Mercier, 34 ans. Je vous dis tout de suite, je ne suis pas un afficionado des sites de rencontres.
